Poser debut win105/11/2023 ![]() It really isn't that much different from people who have tablets and smartphones the Android service does the same thing - collect updates in background, install them, and so forth. Well, if someone decided to not have the updates run automatically, they'd keep the security holes that were being patched. One thing that was mentioned repeatedly whenever a bug was found with Windows, is that users had to run the latest update to get the fix. The whole thing with MS automatically downloading and installing updates, instead of allowing users to turn it off and update when they are ready (or not at all) is actually a good thing, security wise. ![]() MS can focus on Windows 10 software and hardware providers can focus on making software and hardware that works with Windows 10 and not worry about it not working with a future version users can sit back and enjoy using their computer. The idea is that with this last major version release, everything will run smoothly for everyone involved. Basically, what it comes down to is that any time there's a new major version of Windows, software and hardware designers have to reprogram everything to work with the new stuff (as was made evident with my adventures with the Netgear Wifi adapter). Here's another article that states the reasons why a bit more plainly. Third, Windows 10 is the last version of Windows MS will release. I have had zero problems with software compatibility. (FWIW, I had a Netgear Wifi adapter and Netgear did not have Win10 drivers for it. Second, I have had a total of one hardware compatibility issue with Windows 10, and that has since been resolved. I never had problems with program compatibility I just remember not having a start menu because it was designed to go to a "swipe screen" model that's used on tablets. First, Win8 got some less than good reviews, and after having used it I can say I feel as though Win8 was designed to be punitive to those individuals who were not using a touch screen computer.
